Have you ever wondered what happened to your desire after 40? Maybe intimacy isn’t on your mind the way it once was, or the way your body responds to intimacy has changed. If things simply feel different than they used to, there are very real reasons why—and understanding them is the first step toward rediscovering what feels good for you.
Maybe intimacy isn’t on your mind the way it once was. Perhaps you love your partner, but rarely feel “in the mood.” Maybe vaginal dryness or discomfort has made intimacy something you avoid instead of enjoy. Or perhaps you’re simply exhausted from juggling work, family, stress, and everyday life.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re certainly not alone. As women move through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond, many things can affect desire. Hormonal changes, stress, poor sleep, physical discomfort, medications, body confidence, and relationship dynamics can all influence how we experience intimacy.
But here’s something important to understand:
Your desire may not be gone. It may simply be different.
And that’s what we’re going to explore together over the next several weeks.
What We’re Going to Talk About
Throughout August and September, I’ll be taking a closer look at the many pieces that influence desire and intimacy after 40. We’ll talk about why desire changes and the difference between spontaneous and responsive desire. We’ll explore vaginal dryness and discomfort, including how lubricants and vaginal moisturizers can help.
We’ll also look beyond hormones. Stress, sleep, exercise, pelvic floor health, body confidence, emotional well-being, and our relationships can all affect how receptive we feel to intimacy.
And, most importantly, we’ll talk about what you can actually do with all of this information.
With three new articles each week, we’ll move from understanding why things have changed to discovering realistic ways to rediscover comfort, pleasure, confidence, and connection.
Introducing My Curated Product Collections
Education will be at the heart of this series, but sometimes having the right product can make an enormous difference. That’s why I’ll also be introducing a new curated product collection each week.
Instead of leaving you to sort through hundreds of choices, I’ll select products that complement the week’s topic and explain why I’ve chosen them, who they may be helpful for, and how they fit into the conversation we’re having.
To kick off the series, I’ve put together an introductory collection featuring some of the products and solutions we’ll be discussing over the next several weeks.
Check out this week’s curated products here.
Think of this first collection as a preview. As we move through the series, our weekly collections will become more focused on the specific concerns we’re discussing.
Let’s Start a Different Conversation About Desire
As a Certified Menopause Coach, I want women to understand what’s happening to their bodies rather than quietly wondering why they don’t feel like themselves anymore.
Changing desire isn’t something we should be embarrassed to talk about—and it doesn’t mean that satisfying intimacy is behind us.
Sometimes we simply need to understand our bodies differently.
So join me throughout August and September as we talk openly about desire, comfort, confidence, pleasure, and connection.
